Waldorf Star Variations

by Julie Hirt

For the holidays I went a *little* crazy with paper stars.  I made some Waldorf Window stars, German paper stars and even some fabric versions and a bunting.

Here are a few versions of the Waldorf stars that really brightened up our windows. After you understand the initial concept (see my original post) it’s so fun to play around with color and shapes.

The ONLY supplies you need is the colored kite paper, some type of glue (I like rubber cement) and your fingers :)

Now that I’m seeing these again I want to make more and put some up. Are they ok to have up year ’round?

They easily adhered to the windows with a little rubber cement. When you take them down the rubber wipes off like a breeze. I am storing them in a round hat box for safe keeping.

The wax dipped German 3D stars and fabric stars are a completely different style and I’ll do a separate blog on those tomorrow.  They are all SO addicting and fun!

  1. HI
I WAS WONDERING ARE YOU GOING TO SELL THE PATTERN TO MAKE THE WAX DIPPED GERMAN FROEBEL STAR ORNAMENTS

    THANKS KAERN

  2. Thank you for writing & sharing your beautiful stars!
I have become addicted to making the Froebel stars this past week…after finding a small kit of colored paper strips with an instruction booklet about star making. My mom made these stars before I was borne for our family Christmas tree…she is now 91 & has no idea how she made them, which is understandable after following the directions the first couple of times I made them. I want to surprise her with them this year!
The colors the kit came with are not all appealing, but I have found ways to combine the colors. or make them all just as single color. They seem like Easter colors, only the yellow is very strong.

I hunted for paper ribbon & found the cotton ribbon made in Milwaukee…pretty colors, too. They however often split when folded or twisted…next came glittered wrapping ribbon, which was not folding as well…then cutting ribbons from flat velum (a kind of plastic paper, that works great as long as the strips are exactly the same size. (they tore if the ribbon was off by 1/16″ for 1/2″ wide strips. )

Am using glitter glue to finish them off…
Wanted to know more about dipping them in wax. could you please give some instructions on this part?
    Thank you!
