Thursday Threads

by Julie Hirt

Hello everyone!  Last week I introduced Thursday Threads and I’d love for you to join in.

If you are Stateside, did you have a good holiday weekend?  We went went to Lake of the Ozarks (where I grew up and my parents live) for a nice long weekend. Lucked out and the weather was beautiful!

Unfortunately I haven’t done any sewing this week, but I was practicing free motion quilting on a quilt before we left.

This is the first time I’ve ever planned what I want to do.   In the past I’ve just stippled or straight lined stitched. I took one of Leah Day’s Craftsy classes and want to practice some of those designs.

You know what?  I’m AWFUL at ‘traveling’ along the stitches. Ha!  I’m hoping I’ll get better with practice and I get this quilted up in the next week.

What are you working on?  I’d love to see any fabrics, sewing or quilty goodness.

  1. Thanks so much for hosting this linky party! Best of luck with the FMQ, I’m still struggling with it myself.

  2. Thanks for hosting Thursday Threads! I’m with you! FMQ is tough. I just ventured out from straight line quilting a few months ago. Good luck with the quilting- your plan looks great!

  3. Thanks for hosting! I have only recently tried FMQing and it still scares me. I just dislike the effort it takes to quilt on my small sewing machine. I can’t wait to save my pennies for a larger harp sewing machine someday. Le sigh.

  4. Thanks for hosting such a fun linky!

  5. Not working on any quilts I can show this week. Hopefully I’ll get some work done this weekend and have something to show next week!

I like your drawings and I *do* think you’ll get better and following the line with practice! :)

  6. hello

  7. The pinky peace sign quilt i finished recently was totally quilted with a Leah Day pattern. I think it was spiral ornaments. My travel stitching needs improvement, but the fabrics were busy enough that it was okay. I’m doing a big meander on another T-shirt quilt now, 84 x 84 (ugh) but I want to do something different in the outside border. If I ever get there.
