Christmas in July – Kaleidoscope Pillow

by Julie Hirt

Finished in the nick of time!  The Christmas challenge at Love By Hand ends today.  My entry is a kaleidoscope pillow.

With so many different scraps I love how colorful it is. I don’t even think there is a repeat fabric!

I hand quilted the front of this using different color threads between the blocks.

Since it’s a gift (can’t say who, in case they are reading) I wanted a secure zipper back and included a half inch of flange.

And I couldn’t forget my little label.  I still think it’s neat to see my name on something! (coupon 627handworks for 15% off!)

After seeing kaleidoscope pillows from Rita at Red Pepper Quilts and Stephanie at Quarter Incher I had to make one.

Now I’m making a kaleidoscope quilt.  The pattern is different and I hope it turns out just as bright.

Oh!  I know I’ve mentioned this before but I always keep an eye out for clearance sheets.

They are perfect for pillow linings because you can get them cheap and at the same time add an interesting pop of color.

Now I need to fold it up and store it with my Christmas items so I don’t forget I made it!  Hope she likes it :)

Did you have an entry in the challenge?  Have you created anything using a kaleidoscope pattern?
