I’m going to start this off by saying I LOVE this bag! It ranks up there with my Triple Zip and Weekender in the ‘bag love’ department.
It’s called the Sew Together Bag and you can purchase the pattern via SewDemented on Craftsy.
Personally, I think it should be renamed the Hold all the Things Bag. I mean, take a look at the guts of this thing:
Heaven! I love pouches, zippers, scrapping together fabrics… everything about this bag is so fun.
The weight of it is nice, it’s pretty substantial with fusible fleece interfacing.
I’m going to use mine to store crochet hooks and tatting needles. Over 30 hooks, a couple pairs of scissors, tubes of needles and still room for more.
Even after you zip the pouches there is plenty of space to store goodies.
My overall take on the Sew Together Bag pattern: Get it, make it, love it. Make more.
When I first saw the price I was a little on the fence, but it’s totally worth it. There are a couple of tricky spots, but I asked for help on Instagram and instantly had a few replies, even by SewDemented herself. woot!
This is also my very first selvedge (salvage?) project. Now I’m really happy I started saving them because it’s so fun to play with those little ends.

Cute! Will add this to my list. Better try a smaller one first.

Yep, it is awesome. I keep seeing these bags, and one is better than the next…seriously thinking of getting the pattern. What is that adorable little owl in the background? I am on the lookout for owl-y things for my 2 year old, she’s adopted one as her lovey.

Gorgeous! I really should save my selvedges. Do you cut yours a certain width for saving?

That’s awesome! I’ve seen it around, but have not been brave enough to try it myself.

I was going to buy this pattern but like you, with the price, I just wasn’t sure…would the instructions be good enough I could make it (I wondered..I need good pictorial instructions like Sara Lawson’s from Sew Sweetness)….but you’ve totally talked me into it! Thanks!

Okay, your bio says you’ve been sewing since 2010 but yet you made this what looks to be a difficult and complicated bag? Was it difficult, did it take you a long time, were the instructions easy to follow. I think it’s perfect in every way but just not sure I have the sewing skills to pull it off. I taught myself how to quilt 2 years ago so I’m not a real beginner. Any advice? Yours is perfect and I love it!

Julie emailed me and told me it took her about four hours to make and it was easy to follow. She ran into a tad bit of trouble with step four but when she emailed the designer that she was quick to respond with help. I ordered the pattern last night and plan to start on it next week. Knowing the designer will respond to me with help is very important as like you, I am a self tsugt quilter and pictorial instructions are very very important to me for clarity…I can’t follow a paper pattern from a regular shop, I NEED those PDFs with lots of photos for instruction, especially when it is an item as opposed to a quilt.
I love this little pouch and was so glad she posted about it. It’s been in my cart for MONTHS! But I needed to know, for that price, that I WOULD infect be able to make it. I trust Julie to be honest and now I own it! You’ve been sewing for 4 years, you can do it I’m sure. I haven’t been sewing much longer than you. I’ve made a few purses, but mostly I quilt. But, like I said, knowing that the designer will respond to questions personally is what really pushed me into the checkout!
