Due to changes within Craftsy I am moving the patterns to Etsy. Each block will priced at $1 OR buy the entire series of 12 blocks for $5.
This was a free series in the past. Having Etsy host the patterns is easier for me, so feel free to share within sewing groups. Especially if you use one of the patterns as your Bee block! They do NOT need to be purchased multiple times. Same with the series purchase.
Thanks for your patience while I got these listings updated – they are ready to go.
I’m wrapping up this Free Paper Piecing series with the “Floyd”.
I don’t think it’s necessary to explain why Pink Floyd was chosen for the final tribute in the Block Rock’n series.
This is my favorite song of all time. It has been my favorite since the first time I heard it when I was a teenager. The older I get, the more sense it makes too.
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
We’re just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl
Year after year
Running over the same old ground
What have we found
The same old fears
Wish you were here
Back to the block. This block would also look good with less color choices:
To be honest, I haven’t had time to make this block yet. It’s pretty straight forward but please let me know if you run into any issues. I do plan on stitching it up this weekend!

Every other Friday I’ve been posting a free “Block Rock’n” paper piecing template. The blocks are named after bands, singers or maybe even a song title. This week brings you Global Concepts:
I had a tough time naming this block. Mainly because I have dozens of musicians I’d like to tribute a block with only a few blocks left to name.
Every time I hear this song I crank up the volume full blast. It makes me want to… well, like the lyrics say, f*cking dance.
Symmetry exists only in our mind
Our brain is seeing squares

This weeks free paper piecing pattern is the Mercury. As in Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest frontmen of all time.
Like a couple of the previous blocks this one will look different depending on where you decide to add color.
There are inset triangles that I didn’t use, but you certainly could (second color play).
Queen is one of my favorite bands and has been ever since Wayne & Garth introduced me to Bohemian Rhapsody. Of course, I had heard Queen songs way before then but that’s when I fell in love.
If I’m near a jukebox and they have this song, you can bet I’ll be playing it.

Ready for a music heavy post today? Block Rock’n Week 9 brings you Penny Lane.
(don’t look too closely at that center point. My two halves weren’t perfectly aligned… argh.)
You know, I couldn’t have a Block Rock’n series without a nod to the Beatles. Although I should have named it “Imagine”, as in imagine all the possibilities.
When I was playing around with color I realized the little piecing triangles could make this a completely different design.
Or just focus on the large points.
Back to the Beatles… When I was younger I used to think they were overrated and wouldn’t even listen to them out of pure stubbornness. Thanks to my husband all that changed.
Our little chihuahua rescue is named Penny Lane. All three of our dogs are actually named after music: Mr Bojangles (really the SNL skit dog show, but it’s a song too) Penny Lane Huey Lewis – little Huey is deaf (rescue) so he can’t rock out to music with us
