Oh, deer!

by Julie Hirt

Jeeze… It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything.  I wanted to share this deer pillow I made for the holidays.  Found the idea and pattern from Sew Homegrown on Pinterest.  I’ll blame Pinterest for my lack of updates.

I love the pattern and I’m trying to think of other ways to use it!  Maybe shrink it down and applique it onto some placemats?  Enlarge it for throw?  Girly version on a shirt for my niece?  Possibilities galore.

Best part about the pillow is that I didn’t purchase anything to make it.  The red fabric I pulled out of a box for goodwill.  I had 3 long window valance things from Target that didn’t work in this house – but now I’ll use them for Christmas fabric.  They are a nice mid-weight twill.  The black fabric is leftover binding material from my first quilt.   Then I just used the pillow insert from a different covering to switch out through the season.
