First post of the year? Shameful!

by Julie Hirt

Sometimes life happens and I can’t get to sewing and blogging as much as I’d like.   As of late, I’ve been on a roll!  Blocks for two different quilt bees are finished.  Yippee!

I finished up my Fussy Cut Swap blocks and they aren’t even due until mid February!  (Maybe this will make up for the Scrappy Trip blocks below.)

This fun swap is hosted by Amanda at What the Bobbin. The square in a square paper piecing pattern has taken off in quiltyland under the name ‘Economy Block’.

The template Amanda made for us creates 4″ finished blocks.

Hello Tokyo fabrics star as the fussy centers.  This line is so cute I can’t stand it!

Finally, I’ve finished up my Scrappy Trip Bee blocks… which were supposed to be mailed 2 weeks ago. Gack!

Colors requested: Nothing!  She wanted to see what would come her way, so I made something I would enjoy.

IMG_0721

Colors requested:  Oranges, navy, turquoise/aqua.

IMG_0722

Colors requested:  Solids!

IMG_0723

Colors requested: Brights, all colors of the rainbow.

IMG_0724

Colors requested: Prints with a white background for outer squares and happy bright colored print for the center.

This about sums up what I’ve been up to.   I’ve decided to scale back the size of the Stars quilt for my nephew.  Thirty blocks would be entirely too big for him.  Plus, it’s daunting.

Happy Stitching!

Thursday Threads 6/27

by Julie Hirt

Happy SIX TWO SEVEN!

It’s really 6-27, but for some reason we’ve always said 6-2-7.   Paul and I had our first date on 6/27/07 and were married on 6/27/11.

LoveMyPaul

So that’s where the name for my blog came from. I love my Paul!

Since our deck is finally complete I was able to get in a little sewing.  This block is for one my Scrappy Trip Bee mates:

scrappy

She requested pinks and brights, I hope she likes it!  I still have a couple more to work on – I forgot how much I enjoy making this block.  It’s fun to see it all come together.

Here is my version of the Garfunkel block for Block Rock’n.  I’ve already posted it, but here you go:

garfunkel

The Garfunkel and the Caldonia are definitely my favorites so far.  I’ll  be making more of this one for sure.

I’m a little behind on my Lucky Stars blocks.  Oopsy.  Between Block Rock’n and Lucky Stars I have several blocks that I may combine into a quilt.  I really like how the brights pop with the dark fabrics. Maybe some black sashing?
