The giveaway weeks flew by. Are you ready for Week 6? I think it’s a great one!
Look at this yummy goodness!
Aurifil has provided a Simply Color by V and Co. cotton thread collection in the large spool size. This is a ton of thread. TON. It’s also in my absolute favorite weight, 50.
Their 50 wt cotton mako thread is perfect for paper, hand or machine piecing as well as machine quilting. It’s also fantastic because you rarely need to clean any build up from your machine and your bobbin seem to last forever. Due to the fine thread, a lot of it can fit on one tiny bobbin.
This week will have two winners!
Sew Lux has donated an email subscription to their new Club Medallion Border of the Month.
There is still plenty of time to sign up. Starting in October, on the 10th of every month, you’ll receive a block or border pattern in PDF format via email for 6 months.
I love how it’s one border per month, so you won’t feel overwhelmed. Sew Lux also has fabric kits available to go with the Border of the Month in 2 colorways:
Both winners will also receive a copy of the Quilt Bee App if they have an Apple device.
BIG thank you to all sponsors and giveaway bloggers from the last 6 weeks! It couldn’t have been Sunday Funday without you.
Please be sure check out the other Giveaway Parties hosted today:

I never seem to remember to use pincushions. I have plenty but always seem to end up taking pins out of the little boxes I store them in and then dropping them back in as soon as I’m done with them.
September 15, 2013 at 2:38 pm
I HAVE to sew barefoot. I can’t even wear socks, the pedal just doesn’t feel right! I also have to have the entire table clean other than what I’m working on – otherwise I get too distracted :P.
September 15, 2013 at 2:41 pm
I have to be barefoot to sew on my machine.
September 15, 2013 at 3:01 pm
I cannot “throw on floor” or over my shoulder. Tiny pieces of fabric and string go into zip bags; scraps into the scrap tub (to be sorted in color bins later) and trash goes immediately into the trash can. I don’t think that’s odd at all, but evidently other quilters think it’s strange…?
September 15, 2013 at 3:20 pm
I have to sew barefoot..I have better control over the foot pedal. I have to have everything within reach when I sit down to sew. I don’t like to keep getting up. Thank you for the chance to win. Love me some Aurifil. Can’t buy it around here.
September 15, 2013 at 3:22 pm
I can’t wear shoes while I sew. Socks are okay.
September 15, 2013 at 3:23 pm
I throw my cut off thread on the floor because my waste basket seems to travel a bit in my quilting studio/office. So before running the sweeper I have to run my had across the carpet to pick them up so they don’t get wrapped up in the rollers. I too work barefooted. I understand it isn’t too safe since many quilters have dropped their rotary cutters on their feet, but still like the feel of the pedal with my feet.
September 15, 2013 at 3:40 pm
Those thread colors are so lovely…and especially useful. Love to create new borders!
September 15, 2013 at 3:41 pm
I’ve often called myself the barefoot quilter…
September 15, 2013 at 3:42 pm
I don’t think I m strange. But I quilt with old Doctor Who shows with my bluetooth headphones and ipad. And I hate shoes on when I sew. Or really anything but work. NO shoes.
September 15, 2013 at 4:09 pm
Hello,I LOVE the Aurifil Threads!
I don’t like to use my sewing machine without shoes on!!!
Thanks so for sharing>Happy Stitching!

I can’t think of anything weird I do but maybe I just don’t notice it myself lol.

I like to hand sew at work! Or in the car, or on an airplane… I have a problem!
September 15, 2013 at 6:24 pm
I talk to myself while sewing, often congratulating myself when I’m pleased with how something turned out.
September 15, 2013 at 7:18 pm
Hm…the weird thing going on around here is that the dog has been drinking out of the pitcher that I use to fill my iron with water. I guess he’s too lazy to run down the stairs to get a drink, but I’m not a fan of his plan, so we’re going to have to remedy his habit soon Guess he needs a water bowl on the 3rd floor so he can be a content sewing buddy.
September 15, 2013 at 7:40 pm
I guess the only weird thing going on in my sewing room is that there is always a cat or two there and sometimes I sew with one on my lap.
September 15, 2013 at 8:03 pm
I have to sew barefoot and with a fan on. Always.
September 15, 2013 at 8:40 pm
I hate pin cushions and never use them!
September 15, 2013 at 9:21 pm
I’m not sure it’s really odd as I’ve seen many others that have the same ‘problem’, but I cannot sew with shoes of any kind on. I can’t even have slippers. I must be barefoot or wearing socks.
September 15, 2013 at 9:27 pm
My table is kind of high, so my chair is and my feet barely touch the ground. I rest my left foot on the top of an old wooden sewing box (hardwood) and sew from the top of my petal with my toes on my right foot! Sew I sew in my socks! I know weird!
September 15, 2013 at 9:53 pm
I hand-rotate the needle wheel quite a bit to get things just so… or sometimes for fun while stitching. Maybe I was born in the wrong century?!
September 15, 2013 at 10:10 pm
I used to sew with shoes on, but after getting more into FMQ I’ve gotten more particular about having my shoes off–even when I’m just doing simple piecing!
September 15, 2013 at 10:34 pm
I have to sew with my left leg crossed under my right. I think my chair is too short.
September 15, 2013 at 11:50 pm
I tend to perch on the front of my chair – always ready to jump up and iron, cut, or search out that piece I dropped on the way to the machine!
September 16, 2013 at 12:48 am
I have a U shapped sewing area, with a cutting table on the left and ironing area table on the right, I use a swivel secetarial chair so just swing from Machine infront of me from left to right. E
September 16, 2013 at 2:38 am
I sew barefoot. I use my toes to find my pedal and bring it back into position!
September 16, 2013 at 3:36 am
I wear my flip flops to sew, year round. If it’s the dead of winter and super cold, I might sew wearing socks, but that’s rare. Not quite barefoot, but close. Why do we do that, lol.
September 16, 2013 at 3:49 am
I can’t sew with shoes on either!
September 16, 2013 at 4:13 am
I always always always lose my quick unpick. It doesn’t how matter how many I have or how careful I think I’m being with them, I can never ever find one when I need it!
September 16, 2013 at 6:51 am
I can only have one project out at time–the one I am currently working on. If I have more than one out, I get too distracted
September 16, 2013 at 7:51 am
I have to have reisen chocolate candies to suck on to concentrate. Or I concentrate better with them, not so crazy as some of the others but different?? thanks.
September 16, 2013 at 8:07 am
I prefer to sew barefoot!
September 16, 2013 at 9:32 am
Like several other quilters, it seems, I also have to be barefoot! I can’t seem to keep a steady speed on my machine otherwise. Plus it’s just more comfy!
September 16, 2013 at 9:58 am
I sew barefoot.
September 16, 2013 at 10:27 am
I probably have more than one odd sewing habbit, but I don’t think they are odd…
September 16, 2013 at 10:27 am
I sew barefoot too.
September 16, 2013 at 10:31 am
I have to sew Barefoot. I feel like I have more control workout my shoes on, if that makes sense LOL
September 16, 2013 at 10:32 am
Without lol
September 16, 2013 at 10:34 am
I’m barefoot and I always have to have something in my mouth. Although, my radiologist husband said I can’t have any pins in my mouth because too many ladies swallow them while sewing!!!
September 16, 2013 at 10:34 am
Can’t sew with shoes on, socks are ok. I guess I need to feel the pedal, lol.
September 16, 2013 at 10:34 am
I have to sew barefoot, which is strange because I cannot drive a car barefoot. Whats up with that?
September 16, 2013 at 10:37 am
Barefoot all the way baby!!!!
September 16, 2013 at 10:39 am
would love to win! Can only sew barefooted when using my Featherweight with the original pedal.
September 16, 2013 at 10:40 am
I wear shoes all the time in the house no matter what I am doing. The pins I keep on a magnetized plastic disc love it. Presently trying to organize my tight sewing space. Sew Peacefully
September 16, 2013 at 10:40 am
wow. love the colors! one foot barefoot for sure!
September 16, 2013 at 10:42 am
If I’m doing intense sewing requiring concentration, I simply MUST have some salty, crunchy snacks within reach. Don’t know why, but it’s a must!
September 16, 2013 at 10:48 am
I do prefer Aurifuil thread. It’s strong, almost lint free, and you can get a huge amount on a bobbin. I use it for everything I do. What a great value.
I throw almost all my scraps on the ground while I’m creating. No time to make sure I hit the waste basket every time. It’s just as easy to pick it up when I’m done.
September 16, 2013 at 10:49 am
I sew barefoot! Can’t stand to wear shoes while I’m sewing!
Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!
September 16, 2013 at 10:51 am
When I am hand sewing a project using pins, I tend to use my shirt as a pin cushion, pinning the extra pins to it. Not quite a human pin cushion, but close! Thanks for the give away!
September 16, 2013 at 10:58 am
always have a fan on. always
September 16, 2013 at 10:58 am
I also sew barefoot!
September 16, 2013 at 10:58 am
the odd sewing habit i would say belongs to my dog Ollie. He just can’t let me sew without laying right in front of my pedal, so it’s always up and over him to sew!
