by Julie Hirt

Thursday Threads is posting a day early so I can announce the winner of the last Sunday Funday giveaway.

Congratulations to Heidi at Red Letter Quilts.

Heidi, I’ll be sending you an email shortly. =)

This week I was able to cross a few projects off my list, which always feels good.  I finished up my Scrappy Trip Bee blocks and have them packaged up and ready to ship out.  Also completed a teacup block for Sarah Fielke.

Isn’t the pattern cute?  (the handle was a bit tricky for me)

Sarah is collecting teacup blocks to create a quilt for her birthday.  I can’t wait to see it completed, she’s shared some really colorful blocks on Instagram.

I think there’s still time if you’d like to contribute.   Info here.

Let’s check out some of last week’s link ups!

Unicorn Pillow

by Julie Hirt

I’m so happy with how my little unicorn turned out!  Yesterday evening I decided to “sew one block” then stayed up till midnight quilting the pillow.  Oops.

Unicorn Pillow

She’s destined for my niece who is turning five and now I kinda wish it was for me. Do girls ever outgrow unicorns?

And don’t tell my niece, but I’ve already named her  Princess Prancy Pants.

Unicorn Pillow 1

This genius paper piecing pattern is from the talented Kristy at Quiet Play.  It’s a perfect little pattern and you can find it here.

Princess Prancy Pants is the first paper piecing block I’ve made outside of stars or symmetrical type shapes.  She’s not perfect but it’s no fault of the pattern.  Kristy has oodles of blocks to choose from and several are on my to-do list.

Embarrassingly, I’m a little too giddy about the unicorn and she looks at home on MY bed.  Although, I’m not sure if my husband will go for unicorn decor in our bedroom.

Unicorn Pillow 2

For the stitching I used assorted Aurifil thread colors along with fabrics from my stash.  The pink and white border is from a vintage sheet and the back side has the same fabric with a zipper enclosure for easy washing.

This is only my 2nd attempt at piping (first time was my Weekender).  It really isn’t too bad to make and sew in.  Not sure why the thought of it is scary.

Hope you’re having a good Monday. Prance on!  heh

Quilting App + Winner & Linky

by Julie Hirt

So excited to announce…

Quilt Bee App

I’ve been working on this for a few months and it’s finally released!   For now it’s only available on Apple Devices like the iPhone, iPad and iPod.

It really is just a simple organizer to keep track of things like:

  • sewing projects
  • quilting clubs
  • quilting bees
  • fabrics
  • works in progress
  • want-to-make ideas

Quilt Bee App
Just add a “New Bee” for each project you’d like to track.

It’s really perfect for holiday sewing organization.  Say you’d like to make quilted pouches for 4 different people. Add the project and your recipients within. Take pictures of the fabrics you’d like to use for each person so you can easily remember who gets what.

photo 1(1)

When you join a new Quilting Bee or Swap add it to the list.  Include individual recipients along with notes, websites, patterns and an image for each person.

photo 2

Recipients names change color depending on the status.  You know you’re done when everyone is “green”.  Perhaps green with envy because of your mad sewing skills?

It was pretty exciting for me to see my little bee icon!

Quilt Bee App

Go get your very own cute little icon and organize those brilliant sewing ideas and projects!

The screenshots were taken from my phone and I’ve already added a lot more stuff.  Thanks Pinterest for giving me too many ideas. :\
